The journey to Saalbach Hinterglemm from the northern/northwestern direction can be done via various routes:

Without a vignette:

• Option 1: A8 to Inntaldreieck → A93 to Exit Oberaudorf → Kössen (B172) → Erpfendorf (L39) → Lofer (B178) → Saalfelden → Maishofen (B311) → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)

• Option 2: A8 to Inntaldreieck → A93/A12 to Exit Kufstein Süd → St. Johann/Tirol (B173 & B178) → Saalfelden (B164) → Maishofen (B311) → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)

• Option 3: Ausfahrt Siegsdorf (A8) → Inzell (B306) → Schneitzlreuth (B305) → Lofer (B178) → Saalfelden (B311) → Maishofen → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)

These routes allow you to travel without a vignette and will take you directly to Saalbach Hinterglemm.

With vignette:

• Option 4: A8 to Inntaldreieck → A93/A12 to Exit Kufstein Süd → St. Johann/Tirol (B173 & B178) → Saalfelden (B164) → Maishofen (B311) → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)

This route takes you through toll roads, but offers a faster connection.

• coming from Vienna: Exit Wals/Lofer (A1) → Bad Reichenhall (B21) → Lofer (B178) → Saalfelden → Maishofen (B311) → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)
• coming from Graz: Exit Selzthal (A9) → Eben (B320) → Bischofshofen (A10) → Zell am See (B311) → Maishofen (B311) → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)

• coming from Switzerland: A14 Rheintalautobahn → Arlberg-Tunnel (S16) → A12 Inntalautobahn direction Kufstein to Exit Wörgl-West → St. Johann in Tirol (B170) → Fieberbrunn (B178) → Saalfelden → Maishofen (B311) → Saalbach Hinterglemm (L111)

It’s great that you’re interested in traveling by public transportation or perhaps have even decided to do so – an environmentally conscious and stress-free choice!

The nearest train station is in Maishofen (17 km from Hinterglemm). However, the Zell am See station is larger and offers more frequent and regular connections. It is located 22 km from Hinterglemm.

To continue your journey, choose the regional bus 680. The bus stop is directly across from the train station, and buses typically run twice an hour.

Alternatively, you can opt for a taxi transfer to Hinterglemm.
